### Prologue

Across the northernmost reaches of the continent lies a frozen wasteland, a place where the snow never ceases its descent. There, amidst the biting cold, a conflict of titanic proportions reached its peak.

[…Impressive indeed. You have proven yourself a rival of true merit. Knight of Light!]

Suspended in the sky, a figure clad in obsidian robes drifted, his presence leaking waves of shadowy essence. Commanding a legion of the walking dead, he appeared as a sovereign of malice visiting ruin upon the world. He was a disaster returned to the living realm: The Immortal King. From behind the jagged fragments of a ruined mask, nothing but bone remained, yet the ghostly cerulean fires flickering within his sockets struck terror into the hearts of all who looked upon him.

“You certainly live up to your reputation as the continent’s greatest terror, Immortal King! However, so long as the radiance of the heavens guides us, we shall never submit. Our resolve remains unshaken!”

The warrior standing against him gripped a blade pulsating with brilliance, his voice ringing out in bold defiance. Though his plate was dented from the grueling struggle and his body bore the marks of battle, his gaze burned with an unyielding sense of purpose.

“You’re right, this isn’t as impossible as I feared.”

“By combining our powers, victory is within our grasp!”

His allies spoke up beside him. Each of them was a legendary figure, heroes who had clawed their way through countless trials to stand on this final battlefield.

*Clang!*

The soldiers of the living and the ranks of the dead surged forward, colliding once more in a frantic melee. While his companions kept the skeletal hordes at bay, the Knight of Light and the Immortal King threw themselves back into their private duel, clashing time and time again. The blade, wrapped in a shimmering glow, sliced through the ink-like shadows in graceful, sweeping strikes, while the hexed void snapped back, hungry to swallow the luminescence whole. The rhythm of their combat was a seamless exchange where neither side yielded a single step, their strikes and parries flowing together with perfect timing.

The accuracy of their movements made the entire scene feel like a high-budget, carefully rehearsed play.

‘It really does seem like a theatrical performance. But I wonder how things ended up this way…’
