Book 1 Chapter 506

“What is this?!” Luna shouted, highly agitated. “I can’t believe we’re in this embarrassing situation because of that medicine that perverted old man made!”

In a situation where they didn’t have a single thread of clothing on, Luna—with her back to Leo and her face red to her ears—raised her voice as if trying to shake off the shame.

“You were the one who asked him to make that potion,” Leo retorted with disdain.

Luna was left speechless by the reproach. Having nothing to say, she hugged her knees and buried her head deeply. Because of Leo’s body heat transmitting from his back, her face kept burning as if it had been set on fire.

‘The stimulation is too strong!’

Every time Leo moved, she felt the friction of skin against skin on her back, and Luna desperately had to suppress a groan that threatened to escape. Her heart was beating wildly, as if it had broken down.

They had traversed battlefields together for years and remained united until the very last moment to save the world, but the truth was they had never been in a situation like this.

The culprit was none other than Dweno.

Despite their personalities, both Luna and Lysinus were so beautiful that even goddesses would cry with envy, which is why Dweno always wanted to use them as models for his “art.” Naturally, that artistic modeling implied posing naked, and in a sense, Dweno was a man who was definitively crazy.

Lysinus and Luna had always been extremely cautious of their surroundings when bathing outdoors or changing clothes. Furthermore, although Luna had rough speech and behavior, she had received the education of a High Elf and dedicated her whole life to magic. Being in this position with the person she liked made her feel immensely embarrassed.

“Don’t turn around. If you do, I swear I won’t forgive you!”

“I won’t.”

At Leo’s indifferent reply, Luna let out a snort.

“I’m curious about something.”

“What?” Luna answered bluntly.

“Why did you hide your feelings from me? In Lysinus’s case, I understand she might not have shown her emotions openly for the sake of the cause, but I don’t think that was the case with you.”

“Haah…”

Luna, feeling overwhelmed, threw her head back and let all her weight drop, leaning against Leo’s back.

The sun had already set and it was late at night. Lunia, Eiran, Chen Sia, and Kal had gone to enjoy the festival, thanks to Leo and Luna’s excuse that they had “matters to discuss.”

The curtains were completely drawn. The dim light of the magic stone lamps cast the shadows of both. Luna caught a glimpse of their shadows sitting back-to-back. Leo looked straight ahead in silence.

After observing that scene for a moment and organizing her thoughts, Luna let out a cynical chuckle.

“I even went as far as asking you to marry me, you know?”

“What? When?”

Surprised, Leo turned around without thinking. Luna, without hesitation, delivered an elbow to his face.

“I told you not to look.”

“Ugh!”

Seeing Leo hold his face, Luna snorted again with a prudish air, pursed her lips, and said:

“I will be your future. If you cannot draw a future, I will be your immutable dream. So that your life can continue in mine.”

“Was that a marriage proposal?”

“Yes, it was, you piece of an idiot. It was a proposal. Back then, that perverted old man often told you that you were stupid, right? Well, he was right.”

“And since when have you had feelings for me?”

“It was from that moment.”

Proposing marriage out of nowhere to the person she likes… ‘I guess that’s just like Luna,’ Leo thought as he let out a chuckle. Luna, for her part, added while grinding her teeth:

“Back then, I swore I would never say I liked you with my own mouth again. I swore I wouldn’t give any signs and that I would make you be the one to fall in love with me!”

“But you confessed to me when we subjugated Zerdiac and Silatuna.”

“That was a special situation, so it doesn’t count,” she said, clenching her teeth.

Leo let out another chuckle as he looked at the ceiling. It was an old inn, clean but with the traces of the passage of time. The night was deep, and the dim magic light wavered. Being so close, Luna’s scent could be felt clearly. He could feel the spasms of her body due to nervousness.

After a moment of silence, Luna spoke:

“What did you feel when you first found out that you had reincarnated?”

“It was baffling. I woke up from a long sleep and my body had shrunk.”

“And after that?”

“I felt relieved to see that the world was still at peace after 5,000 years. And I thought that, this time, I had to put an end to everything.” Leo looked at his hands. “Because it was an incomplete peace.”

“…Did you never think about forgetting everything and just enjoying life?”

“It’s not that I haven’t thought about it. But I assumed you guys wouldn’t have done that.”

“No, probably if I had been born again in this era, I surely would have ignored the threats to the world.”

Luna clenched her hands tightly over her knees.

“This world is like a dream.”

The current era was exactly the world Luna had dreamed of. What a fun world this was! She herself was revered as the greatest mage in history. Magic that developed based on her theories and branched out into countless schools and branches. Magic theories evolved in directions that not even she herself imagined. For a mage, what world would have more research value than this?

“Arion would have done the same.”

Given his timid personality, he would have chosen a peaceful life.

“Dweno too.”

Even though he possessed a will of steel, Dweno would have dedicated himself to cultivating the beauty of the world.

“Lysinus…” Luna paused and let out a laugh without realizing it. “I think Lysinus would have tried to completely eliminate Erebus.”

“Yes, she is that kind of person. But,” Leo added, agreeing with Luna, “in the end, all of you would have chosen to face Erebus again, just as I did.”

Luna, Arion, Dweno… to protect this world that they themselves guarded and the peace their friends achieved by sacrificing everything, they would have ended up facing Erebus.

“If you were the type of people who say, ‘Someone else will do it for me, I’ve already done enough,’ you wouldn’t have even undertaken that difficult journey 5,000 years ago.”

“Do you think so?” Luna burst into laughter. “We certainly went through a lot of hardships.”

“That’s right.”

“Do you remember when Lysinus and Arion together…?”

Stories began to bloom. They shared tales from a long time ago, which had now turned into memories. Thanks to that, the tension naturally dissipated.

“Ah… this is really nice.”

Luna leaned even further into Leo’s back while looking at the ceiling.

“By the way, is there still nothing you want to do after saving the world?” Luna asked, changing the subject.

“I want to make the future you all desired a reality.”

“Huh?”

“I want to find those who inherit your will and ensure that the future you dreamed of continues.” Leo smiled slightly. “So that my future becomes your future. So that your history continues through my life.”

‘Ah… seriously, this guy…’

Despite having a somewhat complicated personality, how could he be so selfless? ‘That’s why Lysinus also fell in love with him, Kyle being who he was.’

Understanding her friend’s heart, Luna said:

“Close your eyes.”

Leo obeyed and meekly closed his eyes. Luna stood up, positioned herself in front of him, and leaned her back against his chest.

“If you try anything funny, I won’t forgive you.”

“It’s hard not to do it like this,” Leo said, as if he were in a tight spot.

“Let’s stay like this for today,” Luna said, leaning even more against his chest.

She closed her eyes and spoke in a trembling voice. Her chest throbbed and she felt like she was going to die of embarrassment, but she wanted to feel Leo’s warmth just a little longer. The night deepened, flowing into that peculiar time the potion had granted them.

The Next Day

Leo and Luna went out into the street.

“How come you didn’t go to school?” Lunia asked, walking beside him with her arms crossed.

“I feel tired,” Leo replied.

“You?” Lunia narrowed her eyes with suspicion. Leo simply offered her a smile.

After looking at him for a moment, Lunia said:

“Could you give me some advice?”

“About what?”

“It’s about Lady Luna.”

Leo looked at Luna, who was enjoying the festival on the street by herself, and asked:

“What about her?”

“A couple of days ago, the guys from the Pureblood Association disrespected Lady Luna,” Lunia said with concern. “I’m worried that because of that, she might have become disappointed with this era.”

For Lunia, that was something weighing heavily on her heart. Leo let out a chuckle at her words.

“I don’t think that’s the case.”

“Huh?”

“You saw it too. You know what kind of place Luna grew up in in the past.”

“Hmm.”

“She’s not going to get disappointed over something like the Pureblood Association at this point. She probably prefers to see only the bright side.”

“True. I did well to consult you.” Lunia shook off her worries and smiled, but then cast a suspicious gaze. “By the way, you talk as if you understand Lady Luna better than I do.”

“Can’t I?”

“It’s not that you can’t, but I was directly recognized by Lady Luna as her successor!” Lunia said, puffing out her chest with pride. “I should understand her better.”

“And wasn’t I recognized by Master Seirun?”

“Ugh! That’s different.”

Lunia seemed to want to understand Luna more deeply. ‘Well, she is her idol after all.’

“You are human and you are All-Class, so be Sir Kyle’s successor.”

‘I am Kyle.’ Leo let out an internal laugh at Lunia’s words.

“Oh! If this plaza were full of flowers, it would be amazing!” Luna exclaimed at that moment with her arms crossed and a yearning expression.

“Do you want me to buy all the flowers in the city?” Lunia asked. As the successor of the prestigious Lundia family, she was a young woman with immense wealth. If she set her mind to it, she could sweep up all the flowers in the city.

“Then there wouldn’t be any flowers left in other places,” Luna said with a smile, casting a sidelong glance at Leo.

Leo, with an apathetic expression, extended his hand.

Magic power began to fluctuate, and flowers started blooming profusely all over the plaza. Exclamaciones of awe arose from everywhere. Seeing this, Lunia was left dumbfounded, and Luna approached Leo with a huge smile.

Leo let out a chuckle, made a flower appear in his hand, and placed it in Luna’s hair.

“Do I look pretty with a flower in my hair?”

“You look like a crazy woman with a flower in her hair,” Leo replied with a teasing chuckle.

Luna, with an icy expression, began throwing punches at Leo, who dodged them naturally. Lunia was a bit surprised to see them joking around like that.

‘Even in the World of Heroes… they seem like really close friends.’ She felt envious of that relationship. While Lunia watched them with envious eyes…

Sshaaaaaa! A wind blew suddenly.

Leo and Luna tensed up. Both, faces hardening, turned their heads at the same time. And there, they saw a strange woman. Nothing could be felt coming from that woman with transparent hair and eyes. However, starting from the ground where she stood, the flowers full of vitality began to wither.

“Long time no see, noble heroes.”

Seeing the woman greeting them in an emotionless voice, Leo’s face contorted.

“The Mirror Queen, Kinesi.”

At the appearance of the Legion Commander they had subjugated 5,000 years ago, bloodlust emanated from Leo’s body. Kinesi smiled upon seeing it.

“Shall we finish the dispute we couldn’t close 5,000 years ago? The hero who survived, Kyle.”
